La Geometria descrittiva: evoluzione di una teoria - Descriptive Geometry: the evolution of a theory

As of the 1980s, the Roman school of descriptive geometry has initiated a process of revision of the discipline, in order to be able to better face the digital representation techniques. This process has led to an extension of the basic theory, which today includes the mathematical and the numerical representation methods. Besides, the new tools, capable to represent conics and quadrics with the same accuracy of the circle, have been introduced in the construction of geometric figures and in the related existential demonstrations. The success of these researches, even if recent, raises hopes in a renewal that may give back a fundamental role to descriptive geometry within the ambit of the modern representation sciences.
