The purpose of this paper is to outline a system for the reclamation of sulphur from by-products of the liming and fleshing processes in the tanning industry in such a way that it can be recycled during the production process in a directly usable form, and at the same time, to reduce the toxic substances present in the wastewater. The proposed system makes also possible the insolubilization and reclamation of the rich protein component contained in the wastewater as well as a substantial improvement in the biodegradability of the wastewater itself through the utilization of the Fenton's reagent with a view to subsequent biological treatment processes.

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to outline a system for the reclamation of sulphur from by-products of the liming and fleshing processes in the tanning industry in such a way that it can be recycled during the production process in a directly usable form, and at the same time, to reduce the toxic substances present in the wastewater. The proposed system makes also possible the insolubilization and reclamation of the rich protein component contained in the wastewater as well as a substantial improvement in the biodegradability of the wastewater itself through the utilization of the Fenton's reagent with a view to subsequent biological treatment processes.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
