This work presents the software METrHaz (Managing Emergency in Transportation Hazards), developed to support the emergency team in case of accident during road or rail transportation of hazardous substances. Its main features are rapidity of response (less than 30 s) and simplicity of use. The basic idea is that of making immediately available the results of the consequence analysis for some typical accidental situations, thus eliminating the need of fully investigating the actual case during the emergency. METrHaz takes into account 3 release scenarios and gives information, both in graphical and in numerical form, about which accidental events are to be expected, and what are their impact zone and the safety distance.
