With this essay on Marsilio Fucino, published in the review “Popoli” in 1941, Gioacchino Volpe gives a masterly example of his historiographical research methods referring to the main exponents of Medieval Political Thought. In this contribution he also indirectly criticises the relationship between the Fascist State and the Catholic Church in relation to the Concordat agreement, ratified in 1929. Volpe hopes for a possible liberalisation of the regime, which, in his opinion, should be founded, as every political system, on the contractual principle of “consent” between the rulers and the ruled.

Abstract
With this essay on Marsilio Fucino, published in the review “Popoli” in 1941, Gioacchino Volpe gives a masterly example of his historiographical research methods referring to the main exponents of Medieval Political Thought. In this contribution he also indirectly criticises the relationship between the Fascist State and the Catholic Church in relation to the Concordat agreement, ratified in 1929. Volpe hopes for a possible liberalisation of the regime, which, in his opinion, should be founded, as every political system, on the contractual principle of “consent” between the rulers and the ruled.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
