The supervision related to the airway companies financial and economical solidity is carried out by the national aeronautical authorities. They act with the aim to verify and guarantee that the service offered by air carriers is always able to respect the free competition principles, the navigation safety needs as well as the user’s qualified expectations. The regulation (CE) n. 008/2008 introduced a very tough discipline concerning the control powers belonging to the national authorities regarding the air carrier. Nevertheless there is the risk that the rules related to the control activities could be applied in a non uniform way in the different countries. For these reasons, it is possible that discriminatingtreatments could be carried out, causing a significant slow-downof the market unification progress. Moreover, it is really necessary that the aeronautical authorities are endowed with full, real and really effective operational tools that could enable the real evaluation of the air carrier financial reliability, even with doubtful and contrasting available data.
