The aim of the VLVnT workshop was to survey the experimental high-energy neutrino astrophysics field with a special focus on the physics and the technologies to be employed for the construction of a km3 underwater Cherenkov neutrino telescope in the Mediterranean Sea. The workshop was organized in plenary and parallel sessions, with the aim of identifying the progress, solutions and open problems connected with the realization of the detector. The very high standard of the presentations and the liveliness of the related discussions are clear evidence of the maturity of the field, showing that the realization of a km3 underwater neutrino telescope may be at hand.
