The goal of this work is to evaluate how the polluting load, coming from the drainage basin, has been affected by the actual status of the environment in the Venice Lagoon, with particular reference to the characteristics of superficial and deep sediments. Information related to polluting load, coming from previous studies, are critically analysed and reworked to make a confrontation with the status of contamination of the sediments into the Lagoon.
