In our series of experiments we further examined whether the advantage in the recall of symmetrical visual displays over displays that are asymmetrical might reflect working memory processes. This was achieved by using the modified CBT developed by Kemps. The recall of displays symmetrical along the vertical, horizontal, or diagonal axes was tested and compared with that of asymmetrical patterns. Both sequential and simultaneous presentation of the elements creating the stimulus were tested.

Abstract

In our series of experiments we further examined whether the advantage in the recall of symmetrical visual displays over displays that are asymmetrical might reflect working memory processes. This was achieved by using the modified CBT developed by Kemps. The recall of displays symmetrical along the vertical, horizontal, or diagonal axes was tested and compared with that of asymmetrical patterns. Both sequential and simultaneous presentation of the elements creating the stimulus were tested.
