The presence in the Inferniglio cave (Italy) of four Myxosarcina-like species is reported. According to the new classification system of cyanophytes (Komarek & Anagnostidis 1986) the species are assignable to the genera Myxosarcina Printz, Pseudocapsa Ercegovic and Cyanosarcina Kovacik. Owing to the abundancy of the material, it has been possible to observe many developmental stages. The life cycle of the species in the italian cave has been outlined on the basis of a previous described development model. Taxonomic comments on the species are made.
