L. n. 240/2010 was approved by the Italian Parliament in a hurried procedure notwiithstanding the strong debate its contents raised among researchers and students throughout the country. The discipline it sets seems clearly directed to reducing academic freedom, representativity of boards governing universities, and this, together with the heavy cuts to public funding of scholarly institutions decided by the Government in the same period (starting from L. n. 133/2008) seemed to many authors aimed at reducing the university system and its voice. The authors stands for this opinion and shows how the discipline is going to affect the University system and the respect of constitutional principles in it.
