From 2009 the Sapienza- Università di Roma has promoted the investigation of the intermediate area between the Monumental Sanctuary of Pyrgi, the settlement and the harbour. The excavation has brought to light a main road which is connected with the extraurban road leading to Caere, and which seems to play a fundamental role in the urbanistic arrangement of the settlement. The road is flanked by archaic buildings provided with decorated roofs. The most meaningful one is provided with a portico and was used as a storeroom, containing huge dolia. The area is featured by ritual actions, such as the votive deposit -so called "fossa dei pesi d telaio", which has yielded about 30 loom-weights, an almost complete stamped brazier and two huge jars: this deposit well represents female activities (the weaving, the house-keeping, the preparation of food).
