A study of the most recent conceptualization of Job burnout, applicable to a wide range of professions, was conducted in the Italian productive sector. Employees from different production settings (N=945) completed an Italian translation of a survey that included the Maslach Burnout Inventory—General Survey (MBI-GS), the Areas of Worklife Survey (AWS). Confirmatory factor analyses determined that the survey reproduced the factor structure of the original English version of MBI-GS, and mainly that of the AWS. This supports the generalizability of the latest Job burnout conceptualization to professions different than helping professions in Italian context and, in particular, in productive workplaces. A Structural equation model replicated the Mediation Model (Leiter & Maslach, 2004; 2005) in which the Areas of Worklife explain the three Job burnout dimensions. Suggestions for future research and implications for interventions on Job burnout in productive workplaces are discussed.
