The Tertiary calc-alkaline volcanism of Sardinia affected large areas of Northern and Central part of the Island. This volcanism mainly developed along the main structures of the Sardinian Oligocene-Miocene Rift System, related to a convergent plate margin (Lecca et al., 1997). During the Miocene, a highly explosive phase of the volcanism caused the emplacement of large volumes of prevalently rhyolitic-rhyodacitic pyroclastic flow deposits.

Abstract
The Tertiary calc-alkaline volcanism of Sardinia affected large areas of Northern and Central part of the Island. This volcanism mainly developed along the main structures of the Sardinian Oligocene-Miocene Rift System, related to a convergent plate margin (Lecca et al., 1997). During the Miocene, a highly explosive phase of the volcanism caused the emplacement of large volumes of prevalently rhyolitic-rhyodacitic pyroclastic flow deposits.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
