Emerson's poetics of the eye could be defined as the poetics of the in-sight. In-sight while evoking intellectual qualities , refers, nevertheless, in itself to 'sight' and Emerson seems interested in stressing that through insight a universal sense of beauty that belong to all mankind can be reached.
