The volume reconstructs the origins and development of the poetic moods, which Boccioni debug at the Rome Conference in 1911. His reflection is affected by the cultural climate of Milan in the early twentieth century and, in particular, the fascination for the invite ¬ ble fueled by several factors such as the discovery of X-rays, the spread of Theosophical doctrines and phenomena of extra-sensory communication . Through the comparison of parallel works, some of which are policy statements, documents, correspondence and critical texts, it identifies a stage of psychological abstraction so far remained largely at the margins in the historical-critical studies on futurism. In the dialogue with Previati in the first place, but also with the Romans, Russolo, Ginna and Corra, Boccioni tackles issues such as the fact search for a synthesis of the arts, the relationship with the occult and the theories of empathy, the agenda research in contemporary European avant-garde. The new portrait Symbolist and spiritualist that emerges allows you to discover exciting tangents with the international art context (in particular with Kandinsky) and shed new light on the statements contained in the first poster of the painting futurismo.Del text of the Rome Conference, the volume presents a new version of philological, rebuilt according to the two manuscripts (see appendix), preserved in the Getty Research Library in Los Angeles.
