We present the continuous-discrete dynamic system approximation (often referred to as discretization) criterion based on the Augmented State System (ASS) approach [1,2], and show its effectiveness in designing digital filters [4] and digital model reference adaptive controllers (DMRAC) [3,5,6,7,8,9,10,11]. We also comment how our method performs better than the ones widely found in literature.
