The archaeological area of the Ludus Magnus stems from a period of evident weakness in the history of contemporary Rome. Its existence corresponds to an apparent functional and semantic “vacuum”, a gap in the identity of the city of Rome. The project intervention is therefore aimed to reactivate the meaning of a place that is invisible for different reasons. The strategy entails the concept of “hiding” as a condition that stimulates research and attention.

Abstract

The archaeological area of the Ludus Magnus stems from a period of evident weakness in the history of contemporary Rome. Its existence corresponds to an apparent functional and semantic “vacuum”, a gap in the identity of the city of Rome. The project intervention is therefore aimed to reactivate the meaning of a place that is invisible for different reasons. The strategy entails the concept of “hiding” as a condition that stimulates research and attention.
