L'istituto di medicina legale dell'università di Roma. Un'architettura del margine

The headquarters of the Institute of Legal Medicine and Insurance and the Municipal Morgue was designed by Massimo Castellazzi. Currently, there are no detailed studies on this project and its author. The building occupies the south-eastern sector of the University city, standing in the corner between Regina Elena avenue and Verano square as a permeable margin between the University campus and the urban context. The conditions of the site and the need to respond to a complex functional program determined the construction of building divided into parts with a strong identity. The assembly of these parts produces significant public spaces; the most important of these is a covered and raised square that allows the view of the Basilica of San Lorenzo and Verano cemetery.
