Relazioni socio-economiche tra Roma ed i Medici alla fine del medioevo: lo stato attuale delle ricerche

Roma fu un mercato di sbocco di grande importanza per tutti gli operatori economici fiorentini del Basso Medioevo. I Medici, in particolare, cercarono di inserirsi in profondità anche nel tessuto socio-politico romano grazie al matrimonio fra Lorenzo il Magnifico e Clarice Orsini. I rapporti fra Roma e la potente famiglia fiorentina furono però caratterizzati da luci e ombre e non mancarono, nel corso del Quattrocento, momenti di grave crisi. Roma was a very important market place for Florentine financial operators during the late Middle Ages. The Medici family tried also to keep strong contacts with Rome both from the social and the political point of view thanks to the marriage between Lorenzo the Magnificent and Clarice Orsini. Neverthless, the relationships between the Medici and the city of the Popes were not so easy as the Medici hoped and there were lots of periods of crisis during the Quattrocento.
