Following Garegnani’s analysis, we will show that Sraffa’s earliest equations included only things and no price variables. Furthermore, we will also show that Sraffa tried to maintain his earliest formulation for the case of a no surplus economy even after he had decided to introduce price variables into his positive surplus equations
