Democratic evolution in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the light of the Haitian Constitution of 1987

The democratization's trajectory in Africa, in particular in the Democratic Republic of Congo, may indeed have a happy ending if the promoted constitutions include clear and precise provisions in their breasts as to the vacancy and the passing of the presidential power. By taking as a model the 1987 Constitution of Haiti (the first independent black country in the world in 1804), the author wanted to demonstrate in this chapter that it is enough to search for institutional elements of values, capable of inspiring and infusing in Africa a new era of democratic consciousness, useful for the promotion of ethics in politics, well beyond the traditional constitutional history of the States such as France, the United States, or Great Brintain.
