Recent observations of galaxies in the redshift range 6.5 < z < 7.5 show an increasing evidence of a significant amount of dust ([1],[2],[3]). Intepreting the role of different stellar populations, their formation rates and the various phases of the ISM of these evolved objects is extremely important to correctly account for the efficiency of the feedback processes regulating the formation and evolution of dust at high redshift. In this work we show two complementary approaches (a semi-numerical and a fully SPH-hydro method) used in our group to model dust formation and subsequent evolution in star forming galaxies. The predictions of our semi-numerical approach [8] are used to test and tune the code “dustyGadget” which performs galaxy formation simulations including dust. These complementary models will become crucial to interpret current and future observed properties of high redshift galaxies (also see the poster of Mancini in this conference).
