Ionic liquids for electrochemical devices (ILED-6): foreword

In the “ILED” Virtual Special Issue of Electrochimica Acta we gather a selection of scientific contributions presented at the 6th International Conference on Ionic Liquids for Electrochemical Devices (ILED-6), which took place on 9–11 September 2018 in Rome, Italy. This topical Conference was launched in 2008 by Prof. Bruno Scrosati and, following the tradition, the 6th edition was also held in Rome. For the first time the Conference was organized the in the very historical center of Rome, the so-called “eternal city”, only a few steps away from “Fontana di Trevi”, one of the masterpieces of the Baroque art. We invited participants to enjoy the fascinating world of science and technology at this Conference, as well as the beauty and the culture of Rome. In addition, the Conference was favorably featured as a satellite event of the 69th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry, which was held in Bologna, Italy until September 7, 2018.
