Abstract
The geometric conventionality shown by the eighteenth- century portico of santa maria in Trastevere is only apparent and represents a sort of simulation of a universally accepted rule, in fact denied in defining the single detail. By analysing the composition, it has been possible to identify numerous “anomalies”, which seem to concern the close link between the portico and the architectural and urban pre-existences. The ambiguity of the forms has prompted numerous observations. about the possibility of recognizing no simple inaccuracies, but knowingly established connections in the architectural elements. The several enigmatic aspects of the portico include the singularities that distinguish the ionic capitals of the jutting part. The interpretative hypotheses elaborated seem to reveal the sensibility of an architect open to european theoretical suggestions and available to gather the voices of the environmental context in his architectural work.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
