Paesaggio e spazio pubblico: una proposta per il nuovo Contratto di Fiume Medio- Basso Tevere

This paper illustrates our River Contract proposal for the Tiber River in the only stretch currently uncovered, that runs through the Province of Rome. In order to make this proposal effective, territorial analyses were carried out, based on the Landscape Values, or rather the different landscape typologies, which the Tiber River creates in its surroundings. A lot of naturalistic and historical elements are present in our sample area: they could be valorized by this new planning tool, not only naturalistic engineering oriented, but also useful for generating a new urban design. The Tiber River and its tributaries define a category of Waterscapes; the numerous protected areas can be defined as Naturalscapes; the rural features are classified as Ruralscapes; the whole archaeological areas, castles, museums and ancient mills constitute the Culturalscapes category; finally, the Consular Roads and local railways contistute Infrastructuralscapes. Through these landscapes urbanism categories, we proposed the Regeneration Strategy for the Tiber River to connect all these Values for the new "urban" dimension
