The Corpus Nummorum Italicorum project was officially announced in 1897, and the first volume published in 1910. A total of 20 volumes were printed until 1943 – the last one being never released. But the original plan was not followed, volume 18 (for example) being dedicated to the minor mints of South Italy rather than to Sicilian mints. And the project was never completed, with (for example) the entries on Sicily and the Levant remaining unpublished. The draft of the 21st volume dedicated to the Sicilian and Maltese mints was well advanced, but World War II and the king’s abdication stopped its progress. It was never published. In this contribution I present 4 items from the Arabic coins of the Royal Collection. This contribution is actually a preview of the entire catalogue of the Arabic coins in the royal collection – published in the Bullettino di Numismatica.
