Il tema dell'identità

The text constitutes the theoretical and operational relationship of the project drawn up at the "Beyond the boundary" workshop, on the future of Prato and above all on the role of the so-called Declassata with respect to the urban and peri-urban territory. The theme addressed by the project is therefore that of identity, according to the authors, a central theme in a globalized era. Reflecting therefore on the identity of Prato we see that over time it has stratified several components: until the XVIII century Prato was in fact an agricultural city ; at the end of the nineteenth century but especially in the twentieth century, Prato became an industrial city with an extraordinary production capacity in the field of fabric. Thanks to the presence of industry, Prato has become, in recent decades, a multi-ethnic and multicultural city, joining, in recent times, thanks to the presence of various initiatives, including the opening of the Pecci museum, a strong interest in art. Today's identity in Prato therefore contains all the ingredients to be considered an attractive city. Putting its components into a system was therefore the main objective of the project.

Il testo costituisce la relazione teorica ed operativa del progetto redatto in occasione del worskshop "Beyond the boundary", sul futuro di Prato e soprattutto sul ruolo della cosiddetta Declassata rispetto al territorio urbano e peri-urbano. Il tema affrontato dal progetto è quindi quello dell'identità, secondo gli autori tema centrale in un epoca globalizzata.Riflettendo dunque sull’identità di Prato vediamo che essa nel tempo ha stratificato diverse componenti: fino al XVIII secolo Prato era di fatto una città agricola; alla fine del XIX secolo ma soprattutto nel XX secolo Prato è diventata una città industriale con una capacità produttiva, nel campo del tessuto, straordinaria. Grazie alla presenza dell’industria Prato è diventata, negli ultimi decenni, una città multietnica e multiculturale, unendo, in tempi recenti, grazie alla presenza di diverse iniziative, tra cui l’apertura del museo Pecci, un forte interesse per l’arte. L’identità odierna di Prato contiene dunque tutti gli ingredienti per essere considerata una città attrattiva. Mettere a sistema le sue componenti è stata quindi l’obiettivo principale del progetto.
