In his treatise, Antonio Labacco reconstructs the image of the Basilica Aemilia, the ancient monument that Bramante had analysed, and describes it as a «tempio di ordine mescolato». This definition seems to suit also the Tempietto: a monument that the contemporaries of Bramante studied and admired and that is still difficult to classify univocally. The Tempietto is the first circular, doric temple in the Renaissance and is considered a paradigm of the new architecture “all’antica”. Nevertheless for the wealth of ideas, the freedom in the interpretation of the antiquity and of the later artistic tradition developed in Milan, Urbino and Florence, cannot be reduced to singular explanations. In the general organization, in the defining of the architectural orders and in the details, Bramante searches for a blending and for a complexity, that were difficult to be understood also by the contemporaries themselves.

Abstract
In the general organization, in the defining of the architectural orders and in the details, Bramante searches for a blending and for a complexity, that were difficult to be understood also by the contemporaries themselves.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
